When to use

Mirrors in Workflowy let you display the same bullet in multiple places - and keep them perfectly in sync. When you edit a mirrored bullet, the changes show up everywhere it's mirrored. It’s ideal for tasks that belong to more than one project, shared checklists, or any content you want to reuse without duplicating. Think of mirrors as live references - one source, many views.

Mirrors

You can create a live copy of any bullet - we call these mirrors. When you do this, both the original item and the new one will become mirrors. This means that any changes to either mirror will be updated in the other one. This allows you to have the same content in multiple places and ensure that it will always be up to date.

Items that are mirrors will have a diamond-shape bullet.

Works well with...
  • Boards → Use mirrors to display the same task or idea in multiple board columns - like “To Do” and “This Week.” When you update one mirror, it instantly updates everywhere.
  • Templates → Add mirrors inside templates to create dynamic dashboards. For example, a “Weekly Review” template can mirror active projects, ensuring your updates stay live and relevant each time you reuse it.
  • Fractal Comments → Collaborate on mirrored items with team comments that stay synced across all contexts - perfect for shared agendas or documents under joint review.
