This section runs through a small handful of workflows and concepts, in an attempt to distill the following:
1. The one, core practice that drives and maintains the timeline.
2. How it is that the timeline eliminates admin that is part and parcel of other systems:
– Weekly planning is obsolete
– A dedicated inbox is unnecessary
3. How one might keep a record of everything that gets done daily.
Interestingly, this section doesn't bring any new, major dynamic into the mix – however, its purpose (and value) is to give an account of why such a seemingly simple system works so effortlessly, and explore the reason for it being the self-regulating system that it is, bringing with it benefits that may not be apparent from the get go.
Often, you can better appreciate something when you understand how it is that it works. I've experienced the benefits of the timeline system for years – but I must say that it's been a rewarding experience to articulate and explain the hidden, behind-the-scenes mechanisms that make this system so efficient and frictionless.
The next logical, reasonable or opportune time →Workflowy is a minimalist note taking app that helps you organize your life. Simple enough to hold your grocery list, powerful enough to hold your entire life.
