Features

Workflowy AI gives you three ways to work with AI inside your document:

  • Chat with Your Notes — Ask questions, find connections, and rediscover information across your notes.
  • AI Nodes — Generate or transform content directly inside your outline using the surrounding items as context.
  • AI Quick Actions — Run AI: Summarize, AI: Find tasks, AI: Draft an outline, AI: Fix grammar & spelling, or AI: Make shorter on any item.

Chat with all your notes

Chat with Your Notes can search across your account, answer questions, make connections between ideas, and show which notes support an answer.

  1. Click the Workflowy AI button in the bottom-right corner
  2. Type your question or request
  3. Press Enter

Chat with notes on the current page

Limit the chat to the current page and all the items it contains when you want to focus on one project, section, or group of related items.

  1. Click the Workflowy AI button in the bottom-right corner
  2. Click the Focus on... control in the chat box. Its label includes the current page title, such as Focus on "Project plan". If the page has no title, click Focus on these notes.
  3. Type your question or request
  4. Press Enter

You can also type /chat on any item to start a chat about that item and its contents.

Start a new chat

Start a new chat for each topic to keep your chat history easier to scan and give Workflowy AI a focused conversation.

  1. Click the Workflowy AI button in the bottom-right corner
  2. Click the new-chat icon at the top of the chat window

View past chats

Return to an earlier conversation to continue it, use it as a reference, or delete it.

  1. Click the Workflowy AI button in the bottom-right corner
  2. Click the history icon at the top of the chat window
  3. Select a chat to open it
  4. To delete a chat, click its trash icon

Create an AI Node

AI Nodes generate content directly inside your outline. They use nearby items as context, making them useful for summarizing a section, rewriting text, or developing an idea in place.

  1. Type /ai node and press Enter
  2. Type your prompt
  3. Click Generate or press Shift+Enter
  4. Click Accept to keep the response, Reject to discard it, or Regenerate to try again

Use AI Quick Actions

AI Quick Actions run premade prompts directly on an item without creating an AI Node.

  1. Place your cursor on the item you want to work with
  2. Type /ai
  3. Select a Quick Action

Tip: Use AI Nodes to process a specific section of your document. Use Chat with Your Notes for broader questions across your account.
