Mirrors
Learn to create live copies that automatically update and let you have the same information in multiple places.
When to use
Mirrors in Workflowy let you display the same bullet in multiple places - and keep them perfectly in sync.
When you edit a mirrored bullet, the changes show up everywhere it's mirrored. It’s ideal for tasks that belong to more than one project, shared checklists, or any content you want to reuse without duplicating.
Think of mirrors as live references - one source, many views.
Create a mirror
You can create a mirror using the bullet menu, or the slash command “Mirror”.
- Mouse over the item you want to create a mirror for
- Open the bullet menu of that item
- Select “Mirror”
- Place your cursor where you want to paste the mirror
- Paste the mirror
Whenever you create a mirror, you’ll see a green message at the bottom of the screen that lets you know the mirror has been copied.
Mirror from somewhere
You can also create a mirror from an item that is located in another part of your account. You do this using the keyboard shortcut “((”. Using this keyboard shortcut displays the “MIRROR FROM” widget which lets you search for the item you want to mirror.
- Type double parenthesis “((“
- Start typing the name of the item you want to mirror
- Once you find the correct item, hit ENTER on your keyboard
View all mirrors
You can view all the places an item has been mirrored from the mirror panel.
- Open the bullet menu for a mirror
- Click on “See them”
- From the mirror panel you can navigate to a specific mirror’s location or delete them all.
Remove a mirror
To remove a mirror and turn it back into a regular bullet:
- Mouse over the mirror you want to turn into a regular bullet
