Keyboard shortcuts

When to use

Keyboard Shortcuts in Workflowy let you navigate, edit, and reorganize your outline faster - all without taking your hands off the keyboard. Use combos like Alt/Option + →/← to zoom in or out, Alt + Shift + ↑/↓ to move bullets up or down, Ctrl + ? / Cmd + ? to show the full shortcuts list, and many more built‑in commands that make working in deep, nested lists feel effortless. (You can also enable the shortcut panel under Settings.)

Works well with...

  • Slash commands → Type / to trigger actions like formatting, duplicating, or creating templates — then use shortcuts to edit or move items immediately. This pairing keeps your focus on writing and structure without breaking flow.
  • Mirrors + Move shortcuts → Use the Mirror shortcut (Alt/⌘ + Shift + M) alongside Move commands (Alt/Ctrl + Shift + ↑/↓) to replicate and reposition live copies across multiple contexts - perfect for connecting the same task to multiple projects.
  • Quick Capture → Use Quick Capture (Opt + Cmd + N / Win + Alt + N) to save ideas on the fly, then navigate straight to your inbox and organize them entirely via shortcuts.
