Timeline
View and plan dated work on a timeline in Workflowy.
Timeline is part of Workflowy Calendar. Timeline shows the next 30 days, with quick navigation across the next 12 months, enabling you to move task and notes around, without opening each daily note individually.
This helps you stop trying to hold everything in your head, or wrestling with a rigid weekly plan. You deal with things now or push them to the next logical, reasonable, or opportune time, and trust they’ll come back when you need them.
Open Timeline
Open Calendar from the sidebar or calendar button. Timeline is available when Calendar is enabled and is available to all Workflowy users.
Use the timeline to:
- See the next 30 days at a glance.
- Jump between months across the next 12 months.
- Review scheduled nodes alongside the days and months ahead.
Schedule a node
Drag a node onto a day or month in Timeline to schedule it. This gives you a quick way to place work further ahead without navigating through individual daily notes.
For keyboard-driven planning, run /Move to tomorrow, /Move to next week, or /Move to date. The same actions are available from the node menu and the multi-select menu when you need to reschedule several nodes together.
On mobile, swipe left on a node for quick access to Move to Tomorrow and Move to Next Week.
Timeline, Calendar, and date tags
Timeline helps you look ahead and place work on dates. Calendar provides a daily note for each day and displays dated items from elsewhere in your account as Found Dates.
Use date tags when the item should stay in its current location but also appear on a date. Use the move commands when you want the item placed directly into a Calendar day.
See Plan with Calendar for daily notes, Found Dates, and Calendar settings.
